Faculty Bio

Dr. Mark Kirchof joins the Division of Dermatology at Queen’s from his residency at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Kirchhof obtained his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from McMaster University before joining the MD/PhD program at Western University. His PhD research involved studies of the signalling pathways important to immune system regulation. His research interests are broad and include vasculitis, autoimmune diseases and inflammation, microbe-skin interactions, drug reactions and skin cancer. His most recent publications from his residency include work on SJS/TEN, autoimmune diseases and thrombosis, bullous pemphigoid, cutaneous lupus, and several informative case reports on infectious disease and skin-related risk factors for infectious disease. As an educator he has been invited to speak at several conferences for physicians and nurse practitioners. He has taught numerous medical residents and medical students. As the educational coordinator for the dermatology division, he is organizing the dermatology curriculum for the undergraduate medical program and will soon be taking medical residents for clinical rotations. Dr. Kirchhof provides consultation service to the Kingston General Hospital and maintains a busy outpatient service at Hotel Dieu Hospital.
