Thanks Eoin. I appreciate your thoughtful comments. By "lack of a queue" I don't mean that people don't wait (they certainly do). Rather I meant their wait is not safely triaged and coordinated. The Rand Corp has looked at the effects of co-payment for some aspects of health care. While it can reduce access (if too large a fee) it is true we need to find other ways of funding health care so that we can make it more timely and deliver the quality of care that patients expect and that physicians aspire to give. I encourage frank dialogue about our options.
