Thanks Dr Archer for your astute reflections. I too have the privilege of seeing the occasional patient at home. For me as a rehabilitation physician, it is often easier for me to stop by someone's home and see them rather than have an individual with a significant mobility impairment come to clinic. It also gives me so much more insight into how to help. I have also had the opportunity to visit some of my patients whom I have known for several years who are becoming more frail. I think the only comment that I would add to yours would be that I consider it a privilege when patients and their families open their doors to a home visit. It not only makes me vulnerable but they share in that vulnerability.
