Dr. Mark J. Ropeleski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine with cross-appointments to the Departments of Biological and Molecular Sciences as well as Pathology and Molecular Medicine. He graduated from McGill University in 1993 where he continued training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. After completing research training at the University of Chicago, he joined Queen’s University in 2003.

Currently, he is the Program Director for the Residency Training Program, Director of Clinical Trials and Translational Research in the Gastrointestinal Diseases Research Unit (GIDRU) and leads the clinical program in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. He is a site principal investigator in numerous clinical trials in advanced IBD therapeutics and a collaborator in various GIDRU-championed microbiome initiatives. He sits on the operating committee for the CCFC IBD GEM project, a multinational cohort study examining the genetic, environmental and microbial risk factors for Crohn’s Disease.
