Dr. Appireddy has finished his Neurology residency at NIMHANS, India and Stroke fellowship at the University of Calgary. He completed his M.Sc in Clinical Epidemiology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK. Dr. Appireddy is cross-appointed to the Department of Public Health Sciences and is affiliated with Centre for Neuroscience studies

Research Profile:

1.     Virtual care

Dr. Appireddy is an early adopted of Virtual care in Canada and started the first virtual stroke prevention clinic in Canada. His research in virtual care is funded by multiple internal and external grants including CIHR. His research interests in virtual care include

-        Conducting patient-oriented research to explore the patient experience with virtual care

-        Understand the provider experience with virtual care

-        Creation of Knowledge translation interventions to improve the patient and provider experience with virtual care. The KT interventions developed out his research program are available at virtualcareresearch.com

2.     Real world outcomes in Stroke

His research program in stroke looks at the real-world data to examine the influence of frailty and other social determinants of health on stroke outcomes.

3.     Stroke clinical trials

He leads the Stroke Clinical trial unit at Queen’s University. The stroke clinical trial unit at Queen’s University participates in multiple national and international phase 2 and phase 3 randomized clinical trials testing various novel hyperacute & acute stroke treatments, and secondary stroke prevention.  Dr. Appireddy is the site PI for the following CIHR clinical trials and studies – TEMP0-2, AcT, AcT Interrsect study, AcT-Cog study, CATIS-ICAD.

Supervision

He supervises graduate students. He is accepting M.Sc. students for 2022.
