Dr. Louw is a Professor of Medicine, with primary clinical responsibility in the Division of Gastroenterology, attached to the Department of Medicine. He completed his MBChB and MMed degrees at Stellenbosch University (Cape Town, South Africa), completed Gastroenterology training at the University of Cape Town (South Africa) where he was also awarded a PhD.

Dr. Louw joined the Department in 2002; his appointment is that of 'Clinician Scholar'.
