Dr. Andrew Smaggus is a general internist with interests in patient safety and medical education.
Dr. Smaggus completed his internal medicine training at the University of Toronto, including a year as Chief Medical Resident at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He worked as a clinical associate in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Sunnybrook after completing training. During that time, he completed a Quality Improvement Fellowship at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Smaggus joined the division of GIM at Western University in London, Ontario in 2013. He completed a Master’s degree in Healthcare Quality and Safety (Queen’s University) in 2015. During his time at Western, Dr. Smaggus explored interests in Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) rounds, medical error, and resilience engineering.
Dr. Smaggus joined the Division of General Internal Medicine at Queen’s University as a clinician-teacher in July 2017.
