Dr. Caitlyn Vlasschaert is the 2023/24 recipient of one of two Governor General’s Academic Gold Medals awarded by Queen’s University. Dr. Vlasschaert completed her PhD program in Translational Medicine in May 2023, which was carried out under the mentorship of Drs. Michael Rauh and Matthew Lanktree.
The Governor General’s Academic Medal was first awarded in 1873 by the Earl of Dufferin and has since become one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution can receive. The Governor General of Canada continues this tradition of encouraging scholarship across the nation and recognizing outstanding students. The Gold Medal is reserved for academic excellence at the graduate level.
The Department of Medicine and Translational Medicine Graduate Program congratulate Dr. Vlasschaert on this significant acknowledgement of the excellence of her research. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors!
