May 19, 2020 - Dr. Archer's Update on COVID-19 response from the DOM and Medicine Program

COVID-19 Update: There is 1 new case of COVID-19 in our region today. This is a person returning from a higher prevalence area in Ontario and they are being managed as an outpatient. There are no new cases in KGH. The running total for the epidemic thus remains 62 cases in the KFL&A region and all have recovered. We did 254 tests/day at KHSC over the long weekend. Our SARS-CoV-2 test positivity rate is 0.7% in KFL&A vs 4.2% provincially. Our PPE supply is stable with 3-4 weeks reserve, at current level of activity.

Happy Nurses Week. In honor of nurses week the docs in the Department of Medicine donated a basket…thinking it would be distributed via some benign process like a draw! But-no, our nurses are too keen for such a passive process. Instead they engaged in a “Director’s push up challenge” (not sure if this is legal-LOL) and Kidd 10 nurses emerged triumphant. On a serious note: Thanks to all our nursing colleagues for their calm professionalism throughout the epidemic! You have provided great care for our mutual patients and make KHSC a great place to work!

COVID-19 Update: There are no new cases of COVID-19 in our region today. The running total for the epidemic thus remains 61 cases in the KFL&A region and all have recovered (stable X 2 weeks) The SARS-CoV2 positive test prevalence is 0.8% % in KFL&A. This contrasts with a 4.7% rate of test positivity for Ontario as a whole, a reminder that the prevalence and incidence of the disease remains low in KFL&A. There are no COVID-19 patients in KGH today although 4 people are being tested.

COVID-19 Update: There are no new cases of COVID-19 in our region today. The running total for the epidemic thus remains 61 cases in the KFL&A region and all have recovered. The SARS-CoV2 positive test prevalence is 0.9% % in KFL&A. This contrasts with a 4.4% rate of test positivity for the province as a whole, a reminder that the prevalence and incidence of the disease remains low in KFL&A. There are no COVID-19 patients in KGH today although 6 people are being tested.
