Welcome to the Advanced Echocardiography Fellowship at Queen’s University.
We are an accredited program with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Area of Focused Competence). Successful applicants are eligible to receive a Diplomate certificate from the RCPSC. During our comprehensive 12-month training, successful applicants will achieve Level III competence in echocardiography.
Training in our lab includes:
- Experience in a high-volume academic Echo Lab, the first in Ontario to be accredited by the CCN. Annually, we conduct over 1,000 stress echocardiograms, 400-500 TEEs, and thousands of TTEs.
- All aspects of echocardiography, including contrast echo, transcatheter aortic valve implantation, echocardiographic guidance of electrophysiology procedures, 3D echo, ASD and PFO closures, and intraoperative echocardiography.
- Exposure to CT and nuclear training upon request.
- Opportunities in intraoperative TEE in collaboration with Cardiac Anesthesia services.
- Development of administrative skills in quality improvement and strategies for running a successful laboratory.
Research Opportunities:
- POCUS and vascular imaging projects.
- Experience in animal imaging.
- Research is highly promoted.
Fellowship Details:
- One-year position: Start date of either July (Block 1) or the following January (Block 8)
- Salary/Stipend: Competitive salary with additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance.
- Travel Allowances: Fellows receive travel allowances for attending conferences and professional development events.

Application Timelines:
Typically, all application materials should be received no later than 18 months prior to the anticipated start date. For instance, for a start date in July, the submission deadline is January 1st of the preceding year. Please submit all materials in one PDF file, if possible, to the program office at cardpgrm@queensu.ca.
