Dr. Jin is an Associate Professor in the Division of Neurology, with cross-appointment to the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences, and is a specialist in cerebrovascular disease. Prior to joining the faculty in 2008 he completed residency training in Neurology at Queen's University and completed a Cerebrovascular Disease fellowship at the Calgary Stroke Program in Calgary, Alberta. In additon to his clinical duties, he is the Medical Director for the Regional Stroke Network of Southeastern Ontario, and serves on a variety of committees with the Ontario Stroke Network, the Canadian Stroke Best Practice Recommendations Writing Group for stroke prevention, and the Royal College Neurology Examination Committee. His laboratory focuses on the use of experimental animal models of stroke to understand the roles of spreading depolarization and neuroinflammation in post-stroke cerebral injury. He is also interested in the use of robotic technology to assess cognitive and motor behaviour impairment in stroke and other neurological disorders.
