Dr. Myong Ki Baeg, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine at Queen’s University, having joined the faculty in December 2025.
Dr. Baeg’s clinical practice encompasses general gastroenterology with specialized expertise in endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), neurogastroenterology, and gastrointestinal motility disorders. His research integrates clinical outcomes research and the application of large-scale “big-data” analytics to improve care pathways, procedural effectiveness, and long-term patient outcomes in complex gastrointestinal conditions.
Dr. Baeg received his MD from the University of Ulsan in 2003. He completed internship training at Asan Medical Center, followed by residency in Internal Medicine at the Catholic Medical Center. He subsequently completed Master’s and PhD degrees at the Catholic University of Korea with subspecialty training in gastroenterology.
Before joining Queen’s University, Dr. Baeg served as the Chair of Gastroenterology at International St. Mary’s Hospital in Incheon, South Korea, where he led clinical services, education programs, and research initiatives. Dr. Baeg has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles focusing on advanced endoscopic techniques, functional GI disorders, and outcomes-driven research harnessing large clinical datasets.
