Dr. Bianca Brunelli is a Palliative Medicine physician and Assistant Professor in the Queen’s University Department of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of New England in the United States, and completed an internal medicine residency in Detroit, Michigan. Upon graduation, she worked as a hospitalist and internist before deciding to focus on helping patients with life-limiting illnesses improve their quality of life. In 2016, she completed a fellowship in Palliative Medicine at the Mayo Clinic. She then joined MD Anderson Cancer Center, where Dr. Brunelli specialized in pain and symptom management for patients with cancer. She brought her passion for pain management to the Center for Pain and Supportive Care, expanding the utilization of intrathecal drug delivery systems for patients with cancer.
In 2025, Dr. Brunelli brought her dedication to helping patients to the division of Palliative Medicine at Queen’s University. Dr. Brunelli provides clinical service primarily through Kingston General Hospital for inpatients and in the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario (CCSEO) for outpatients. She also works at Providence Care Hospital, the Lung Diagnostic and Assessment Program (LDAP) at Hotel Dieu Hospital, and outreach clinics at the Belleville Cancer Centre. Her main interests in the field of Palliative Medicine include the intersections of interventional pain procedures, opioid use disorders, and cancer related pain, as well as developing frameworks for care in cancer survivors with chronic pain disorders.
