Dr. Kirsten Nesset joined the Department of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Respirology in September 2024. As a specialist in Interstitial Lung Disease, her research interests include how frailty impacts patient-reported outcomes and care preferences in this population. She is also passionate about medical education with a focus on longitudinal care in outpatient practice and how this might be effectively taught during training.
Dr. Nesset previously completed her Masters in Biochemistry, undergraduate medical degree, and Internal Medicine residency at Queen’s University. She pursued her Respirology fellowship at the University of Ottawa and completed a clinical fellowship in Interstitial Lung Disease at McMaster University. She was awarded the Robert Davidson Fellowship by the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation for her research investigating how frailty might impact engagement with remote monitoring of patients with interstitial lung disease. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Health Professions Education through Maastricht University; her thesis is investigating the processes used by clinicians in managing outpatient investigations.
