Dr. Cengiz Burak received his medical degree in 2010 from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Turkey. He subsequently completed his cardiology residency at Turkiye Yuksek İhtisas Education and Research Hospital in 2015. While practicing as a cardiologist, he developed an interest in arrhythmias and cardiac devices, completing six months of focused training in this area. Dr. Burak pursued further specialization by completing a two-year Adult Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship (2022–2023), followed by an additional year as a senior fellow at Queen’s University (2024). During his fellowship, he also successfully completed a Royal College-accredited Area of Focused Competence and became a diplomate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
In December 2024, Dr. Burak was appointed to the Division of Cardiology at Queen’s University, where he currently serves as an electrophysiologist at Kingston Health Sciences Centre. His clinical interests include catheter ablation strategies for managing complex cardiac arrhythmias, with an emphasis on zero-fluoroscopy techniques. His expertise also extends to the implantation and optimization of cardiac devices, including cardiac resynchronization therapy and conduction system pacing.
Dr. Burak has a strong research background, with over 40 peer-reviewed publications and substantial citations. Alongside his clinical and research responsibilities, he is deeply dedicated to medical education, actively engaging in postgraduate and undergraduate training through teaching, mentorship, and research.
