Dr. Sara Awad completed the Internal Medicine residency program at Queen’s University in 2015 and the Endocrinology and Metabolism subspecialty training program at the University of Ottawa in 2017. She joined the Department of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in August 2017. Dr. Awad is passionate about Medical Education and completed her Masters of Health Professions Education (MHPE) at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2021. Her Medical Education Focus is Curriculum Development and developing Self-Regulated learning through Personal Learning Plans in the context of CBME.
Dr. Awad is the Associate Program Director of the Core Internal Medicine Residency Program at Queen's University and leading the teaching, learning and curriculum aspect of the residency program. She is also a member of the competence committee of both the Core Internal Medicine residency program and Endocrinology and Metabolism subspecialty program at Queen's University.
Dr. Awad's clinical interests are thyroid cancer, insulin pumps and advanced diabetes technology, pituitary gland disorders and diabetes in pregnancy.
